One Room Challenge Fall 2020 Week 4

This week is actually one of the most exciting for me so far in regards to the One Room Challenge Fall 2020 edition. I finally get to start posting some real photos of what has been accomplished so far! When I first signed up, I didn’t think I’d be doing any DIY projects. Keep it simple, right? Nope, not for me… (or us, lol). If you just got here, don’t forget to read Week 1, to see where we started. You can also Reed Week 2 and Week 3.

One Room Challenge – Progress Report

I’ve done a board and batten project before in our master bedroom, and I have to say that the method I used in our bedroom is my favorite. You may not have noticed the difference in this picture, but in this guest bedroom, we didn’t include the smooth backer board behind the batten. I still think it looks great and it’s more budget-friendly, but you can see the texture on the walls. Maybe that doesn’t bother you, but I thought I’d point it out so you can choose for yourself.

We used alternating 6″ and 12″ spaces between to create a bit of a more modern look. I used tape to space everything out and the first time I ran into both outlets on the wall. I retaped it centering the smaller section in the middle and I managed to miss them both this way. I highly recommend that you do this. It saved us a lot of work. That’s my biggest tip for you on this one. I don’t even think it took us a half-hour to put all of the boards up on this wall. Painting and caulking everything took the longest.

We also got the bed put together and the rug in place. I had never ordered from All Modern before this purchase. We’re extremely happy with the bed. It arrived in great condition and putting it together was so easy!

One Room Challenge Fall 2020 Week 4 – The Rug

When the rug first arrived, I didn’t love it. I had never purchased a rug with this much-defined color so I almost rolled it back up and returned it. But once I got it on the floor and put the bed on top, I fell IN LOVE! I started to visualize the bedding, the wall decor, etc. and I learned to embrace it. I’m super happy with it and I’m not looking back.

One Room Challange Week 4 – The Next Plan…

Now that we have some staple items in place, everything is starting to come together in my head. lol. I have ordered bedding and have planned another DIY for the wall above the bed. Yep, another DIY. Remember, I wasn’t going to do any of those! I saw something on Pottery Barn that I fell in love with but I can’t fit it into the budget. Ok, I never really had an actual budget, but let’s just say I’m over what I thought I’d spend!

Ok, pray for me that this picture wall turns out. I’m pressed for time and I really need a win here! Stay tuned for next week’s progress! I appreciate your following along. I’ll see you soon!

Happy decorating,

Denise

  1. I love your board and batten wall. The layout does look more modern. I like the added color of the rug with the modern bed. It’s exciting to see it all come together and I’m anxious to see what you decided for bedding.
