Our Bedroom Refresh On A Budget

Upholstered bed with a board and batten bedroom wall

We’ve been working on our bedroom refresh on a budget for awhile now and I realized I never shared a post after changing up the decor. I guess I’m never really done when it comes to decorating, but here’s where we are so far.

The Bed – Bedroom Refresh On A Budget

You may remember from my previous post DIY Board and Batten Bedroom Wall that we added a feature wall. That wall has been my second most popular post ever! We were ready for a new bed but wanted to stay on a budget so we ordered a gray upholstered bed for under $200! Amazon has this bed in a lighter gray and it’s super pretty, too! This one accommodates a box spring (but isn’t necessary). I love the look of the new upholstered bed. It made the bedroom a little more modern.

The Bedding

The natural colored duvet cover we picked is super simple and perfect for us with having our dog, June, in our bed. The duvet slips right off and is so easy to wash and spot treat. It has a relaxed feel with a bit of a built-in wrinkly look so I can take it right out of the dryer and put it back on the bed. I bought the same duvet in different colors for our son and for our daughter and son-in-law. We like it that much! Click any small image below to take you to the exact products we purchased.

This is how the duvet cover was packaged.

The neutral color of the duvet allows us to change things up for the seasons but for now, we still have the gold and black shams mixed with neutral colors. I love neutrals. There’s not a lot of color in our home that’s outside of the neutral color palette. Neutrals are very soothing to me. If I want to add color to a room, I usually do it with flowers.

The Accessories

Side table with plants and other home decor

I got this little table at T.J.Maxx. The leg was loose so I scored it for under $100 and all it needed was a tiny bit of wood glue. The flower pots in my room can be found here. The faux pampas grass stems are from Michael’s. I don’t think they have them anymore but here are a few others for you.

My little bird watcher, June.

I got the cute velvet tufted sofa at a local resale store and it’s been in our room for a while. I love it so it’s staying for now. June loves to sit on it and look out the window and watch the birds and check for danger before going into our fully fenced backyard. Ha ha.

I switched out our lampshade from a more traditional silk fabric to a burlap lampshade. We added a few accessories and I’m still looking for a few more things to fill in. I doubt I’ll ever be done since I’m changing a little something here and there. You don’t have to buy an entirely new lamp, just changing the shade can update a look for less.

The rug under the bed was the best addition. We eliminated carpet in our house so a rug under the bed helps keep every little tiny speck of anything on your floor from ending up in your sheets! It also quieted the room so much and reduced the echo.

Before you go, be sure to check out the guest bedroom that we completely redecorated after our son moved out. We did this as a part of the One Room Challenge where we completed the bedroom over a 6-week project. We have one more bedroom to work on and then the bedrooms will all be done! Well, until we start again….

Happy crafting,

Denise

    1. Thank you. It takes me forever to decorate a room so at least my colors won’t go out of style by the time I’m done! 🙂
