Easy Ghost Garland DIY
I made this super cute Easy Ghost Garland DIY with Dollar Tree rope but you can also use a Dollar Tree mop head if you have one on hand. This simple Halloween garland came together in minutes. It’s so easy and I can’t wait to show you how to make it.
Our daughter and grandkids went back home after being with us for six months so it’s been a minute since I’ve done a blog post. Her husband made it home safe from deployment and their little family is together again, which I love!
The hard part is having them so far away. We’re in California and they are in Virginia. I would give anything for them to be a short drive away. We miss them so much.
To jump back in the swing of all things blogging, I thought I’d start you off with a super easy Halloween craft project that costs very little to make but looks so cute.
I’ve made a yarn ghost garland DIY in the past but I was looking for something a little different for my Halloween decor this season. You’ll only need a few supplies to make these!
Easy Ghost Garland DIY
This east DIY ghost garland can be made in just a few minutes and costs very little making it the perfect budget-friendly Halloween craft project.
Materials
- Dollar Tree rope or mop head
- Foam board or cardboard
- Black felt or paper
- Accessories if you'd like (I used yarn and pinches of dried flowers)
- Twine for hanging
Tools
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Hole punch (optional)
Instructions
- Trace and cut 1 circle per ghost out of foam board or cardboard.
- If you're using rope, untwist the rope. You'll be working with one section at a time.
- Glue your first piece of rope in the center. It will be folded in half and then cut to length at the bottom. Each piece you glue will be longer than the first so don't attempt to cut all the pieces at once.
- For the second piece, I recommend laying your rope around the first piece to determine the length. Glue in place and repeat until your ghost is full. I used 5 pieces per ghost. If you have foam board sticking out at the end, just trim it away.
- Trim the bottom into the shape you like. You can also separate the strands of rope at the bottom of the ghosts with your fingers to make the bottom fuller.
- Cut your eyes and mouths out of black paper or felt. I used a hole punch to cut the eyes. It didn't quite cut all the way through the felt but it helped get me started. I trimmed the rest of the way with scissors.
- Glue the eyes and mouths on your ghosts and accessorize with bows or dried flowers if you'd like.
- Glue a rectangle of felt on the back of each ghost at the top and bottom only. This leaves a space for twine to run through for hanging.
- The last step is to string all of your ghosts onto twine and hang to enjoy!
