DIY heart wreaths

Hearts aren’t just for Valentine’s Day decorations but we tend to think of Valentine’s Day when we see them.  Any of these wreaths can be made in any color to fit with your home decor if you like to decorate with hearts throughout the year.

Whether you’re making a heart wreath for your front door or hanging inside you’re home, with all of these cute wreaths, you’re sure to find a fun DIY project here.

How Do You Make A Heart-Shaped Wreath?

There are several styles of heart wreath forms, but you can also DIY a heart-shaped wreath form with an old coat hanger or heavy piece of wire.  I’ve even cut a heart shape out of cardboard in a pinch.  So save those Amazon boxes!

There are a lot of different styles of ready-made heart wreath frames to purchase at local a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s Crafts.  The style you pick will depend on the type of wreath you want to make.

  • Wire Wreath Form: A wire form can be found at most dollar stores and are very inexpensive.  If you don’t have a dollar store near you, you can find them online or in the local craft stores.Wire wreath frames are best for making wreaths with faux flowers.  With a little bit of hot glue, you can easily attach greenery and fill in with red and white flowers for a simple Valentine’s wreath.
  • Heart-Shaped Grapevine Wreath: What I love about grapevine wreaths is that they are probably the easiest wreaths to decorate.  Just attach a few faux flowers and you have a very simple wreath that looks beautiful.  Roses are a favorite flower around Valentine’s Day and you could create a beautiful faux rose wreath in minutes.
  • Styrofoam Hearts: I love using styrofoam hearts for making wreaths with yarn and paper.  Yarn slides well on styrofoam and the finished wreaths have more of a three-dimensional look.
  • Boxwood Wreaths: Boxwood or other faux grenery look beautiful all on their own.  Hang two or three vertically with red ribbon for a unique front door wreath.

DIY Fabric Heart Wreath With Red Satin

I love red satin for Valentine’s Day. The right color red looks so luxurious and romantic and it’s really quite affordable. We don’t have a fabric store in our town so I purchased red satin online.

To make this fabric satin heart-shaped wreath, I sewed long tubes of red satin and scrunched them around a styrofoam heart frame.

I cut a slice through the bottom of the hear so I could slip the fabric around and then just tucked in the fabric seems.
